Hole #1
Par: 4 | Men's Handicap: 11 | Ladies' Handicap: 11
Hole Description:
The first hole is short par 4, slight dogleg left, downhill that is an easy start.
Caddy Tips:
Tee shot should favor the left center of the fairway to avoid the bunkers on the right. Depending on the hole position, it is an easy second shot with a short iron. The green slopes severely from right to left, so favor the right side, except when the pin is in the front right portion of the green. In that case, you must be slightly left or long.
Hole #2
Par: 3 | Men's Handicap: 15 | Ladies' Handicap: 17
Hole Description:
Number 2 is a challenging par 3. It usually plays with the wind helping from the left, except early in the morning.
Caddy Tips:
The tee shot should always favor the left side of the green, as it will kick to the right off the hill. Missing to the right with the bunker and stream is trouble!
Hole #3
Par: 5 | Men's Handicap: 1 | Ladies' Handicap: 1
Hole Description:
This is arguably the best three shot par 5 in the country. It is very narrow off the tee, with the bunker and the water hazard on the left, and out of bounds and bushes to the right. The second shot is a layup to an even narrower landing area, trying to avoid the lake on the right and the bushes to the left of the fairway. The third shot can be from 175-100 yards depending on the flag stick position on the green, as it is one of the longest greens on the course from front to back.
Caddy Tips:
The tee shot needs to be more accurate than long. The second shot from a downhill lie is very challenging because of the lake and the bushes. The third shot can be very daunting because you have water all along the right hand side of the very narrow green. A par here is very good.
Hole #4
Par: 4 | Men's Handicap: 5 | Ladies' Handicap: 5
Hole Description:
A deceptively tricky short par 4. Dogleg to the left from an elevated tee.
Caddy Tips:
The tee shot is tricky because the wind is usually blowing left to right, which puts the bunkers and out of bounds in play if you are not paying attention. The proper strategy is to tee the ball on the right side of the tee and aim down the left center of the fairway. This should leave you a mid-to short iron into a very accessible green.
Hole #5
Par: 3 | Men's Handicap: 7 | Ladies' Handicap: 15
Hole Description:
This is a very demanding long iron par 3.
Caddy Tips:
The tee shot must avoid the bunker on the left and you must carry the ball onto the front third of the green. This hole usually plays down wind which shortens the hole. You need to land the ball properly as the ball has a tendency to release.
Hole #6
Par: 4 | Men's Handicap: 13 | Ladies' Handicap: 9
Hole Description:
This hole is both the shortest and narrowest par 4 on the golf course.
Caddy Tips:
The tee shot needs to be straight, not long, to avoid the bunkers on the right and the bushes on the left. A mid-iron from the tee will leave you with 130 yards or less to the smallest green on the course that slopes away from you from front to back. Do not be long, as there is a dramatic drop off on the back of the green.
Hole #7
Par: 4 | Men's Handicap: 3 | Ladies' Handicap: 3
Hole Description:
The view from the tee on #7 is spectacular with the clubhouse sitting behind the green. It is a dogleg right downhill tee shot with water and bunker on both the right and the left. The second shot plays uphill with a green with a false right front that is well protected by bunkers.
Caddy Tips:
The tee shot does not need to be long, but needs to split the left and right fairway bunkers. This leaves an uphill shot of approximately 150-175 yards, but it plays longer due to the uphill slope. The right half of the green slopes severely from back to front. The left half of the green is relatively flat.
Hole #8
Par: 4 | Men's Handicap: 9 | Ladies' Handicap: 7
Hole Description:
A short, deceptively challenging, straight away par 4. Fairway bunkers on the right and bushes on the left. The second shot is downhill from approximately 130 yards to a well bunkered green.
Caddy Tips:
The tee shot must avoid the bunkers to the right and the bushes left. Again, it does not need to be long, just accurate, leaving a downhill short iron to a very accessible green.
Hole #9
Par: 5 | Men's Handicap: 17 | Ladies' Handicap: 13
Hole Description:
A right dog-leg short par 5 back to the clubhouse. The second shot is semi-blind as the green sits well below the fairway.
Caddy Tips:
The uphill tee shot is usually into the wind. Avoid the fairway bunkers on the right and left. The second shot is a blind downhill shot to the green with bunkers on the left and a severe drop-off to the right at the green. The fairway slopes severely left to right as you go down the hill to the green. It is reachable in 2 for a good player, but you must avoid the bunkers and out of bounds to the left and the deep depression to the right. It is a risk-reward birdie hole for the good player.
Hole #10
Par: 4 | Men's Handicap: 6 | Ladies' Handicap: 8
Hole Description:
The tenth hole is an extremely difficult straight away par 4 that normally plays into the wind. The tee shot should avoid the fairway bunkers on the right, leaving an uphill second shot to the green from approximately 190 yards.
Caddy Tips:
The tee shot should favor the left side of the fairway, as it slopes left to right. The second shot plays uphill and should favor the left center of the green. Avoid the deep bunkers on the right. A par here is exceptional.
Hole #11
Par: 4 | Men's Handicap: 14 | Ladies' Handicap: 14
Hole Description:
The eleventh hole is a short par 4 that doglegs severely to the left. Placement of the tee shot is essential as the fairway is well bunkered with four fairway bunkers and one greenside. A good tee shot will allow for a short iron to a green that falls off sharply to the left.
Caddy Tips:
This is a short risk-reward par 4. The conservative play is to layup right, leaving a second shot of approximately 125 yards to a well-protected green on the left with a severe drop-off. The aggressive play is to hit driver over the fairway bunkers on the left, which will leave you a short shot of approximately 80 yards. This is a birdie hole.
Hole #12
Par: 5 | Men's Handicap:4 | Ladies' Handicap: 6
Hole Description:
A narrow straight away par 5. The tee shot is elevated to a very narrow landing area with trees to the right and bunkers and out of bounds on the left. The second shot is uphill with fairway bunkers on the right and bushes and out of bounds on the left. Again, very narrow. The third shot is uphill to a well-protected undulating green, divided in half, with a spine that runs right to left in the center of the green.
Caddy Tips:
This is a birdie hole if you play three good shots. The tee shot is downhill with the wind usually blowing from the left to a narrow landing area. The second shot you have two options: (1) Aggressive is to hit a fairway wood as close as possible to the green, leaving a short pitch from 50 or less yards. Out of bounds is very close to the green on the left. (2) Conservative is to layup short of the fairway bunkers to the right, leaving a shot of approximately 125 yards.
Hole #13
Par: 4 | Men's Handicap: 12 | Ladies' Handicap: 2
Hole Description:
A short downhill dogleg right with two large bunkers to the right off the tee and a bunker left at the top of the hill in the landing area. The second shot is very intimidating—downhill to a green completely protected in the front by a beautiful lake.
Caddy Tips:
The tee shot needs to be hit to the top of the hill with a driver or fairway wood. This leaves a downhill second shot of approximately 150 yards which can be very intimidating because of the lake. A good second shot will result in a birdie opportunity. A bad shot will end up wet.
Hole #14
Par: 3 | Men's Handicap: 16 | Ladies' Handicap: 18
Hole Description:
The 14th hole is a very scenic mid-range par 3, with a green that is protected by a stunning creek on the left and a very deep bunker on the front right.
Caddy Tips:
The tee shot is slightly uphill with a usual prevailing breeze from behind, making the shot play shorter than the yardage. Middle of the green is the smart play.
Hole #15
Par: 4 | Men's Handicap: 8 | Ladies' Handicap: 10
Hole Description:
A short downhill par 4 with a slight dogleg to the right that can be extremely tricky. The fairway is very narrow with trouble right and left off the tee with a deep fairway bunker to the right in the landing area. The second shot is downhill to a green that is surrounded by water behind and protected in the right front by a deep greenside bunker.
Caddy Tips:
Length is not an issue on the tee shot. You must avoid the bunker on the right which will leave a second shot of approximately 120 yards downhill to a green that slopes slightly away from you from front to back. An aggressive shot can result in a birdie, but a mishit could result in tragedy.
Hole #16
Par: 3 | Men's Handicap: 10 | Ladies' Handicap: 16
Hole Description:
A very challenging par 3 protected by water on the left and a severe bunker to the right front of the green. This is the largest green on the golf course from front to back.
Caddy Tips:
The tee shot is usually downwind, making the hole play slightly shorter than the yardage. Left is a disaster. The greenside bunker is ok. The goal is to carry the right bunker and put the ball in the middle of the green. Par is a huge success.
Hole #17
Par: 4 | Men's Handicap: 2 | Ladies' Handicap: 4
Hole Description:
A downhill dogleg right “big boy” par 4, with a lake guarding the entire right side of the green.
Caddy Tips:
Favor the left side of the fairway as there is a large bunker on the right side. Also, trees will block your second shot to the green if you are in the right center of the fairway short of the bunker. The second shot plays downhill with a fairway that slopes left to right, which will allow you to roll the ball on the green for the conservative play. Anything to the right will find the water. Par here is a very good score.
Hole #18
Par: 5 | Men's Handicap: 18 | Ladies' Handicap: 12
Hole Description:
This is a reachable par 5 birdie hole, dogleg left, with a huge penal bunker at the left corner of the fairway in the landing area. The second shot is uphill to a green well bunkered on the left and right, but you can roll the ball onto the green. This is one of the bigger greens on the golf course.
Caddy Tips:
The tee shot is usually downwind from an elevated tee. If you can avoid the big bunker on the left, you will have a hybrid or long iron to the green from 225 yards. The bunker on the left side of the green is very deep and penal. The bunker on the right front of the green is very playable. Play conservatively to the front center of the green and a two putt birdie on the final hole will leave a smile on your face as you head to the 19th hole.
